Bodybuilders... anyone ever strain or maybe tear a muscle right behind the sternum? I have an ache there that only hurts when I twist certain ways or when I crunch. It's not a horrible ache but it's there and making me concerned. It doesn't hurt when I breathe but it hurts when I push on it and when I twist my core I can almost feel it in the center of my back too. wt actual f?

It might be costochondritis. Check it out and see if that's how you're feeling. Usually just need to rest from lifting and take some time off. I think I read that you were prepping for a competition? Maybe speak with your coach. Might be a time to just up the protein a bit to keep some mass and take a week off, drop the calories and just relax for a bit before you really get into your prep. You don't want to go into a prep with a little nagging injury because it will never heal in that sort of environment.

Thanks. Yeah I've been reading up on the issue and that's what it seems like. If that is indeed what it is luckily it isn't severe... I have another two weeks before my official prep begins so I suppose if this is going to happen now is the right time. I'm going to shoot a message to my comp coach. I already lifted this morning.. arm day  I took it nice and slow but went super heavy. It didn't make it any worse, in fact, it actually felt somewhat better after... maybe I gave it a nice stretch. I am not trying to burn up calories right now but I suppose I could do some walking on the tread mill or outside just to keep things moving... There is no way I can do a whole week of sedentary! Sucks because I made a few PRs between yesterday and today! Tomorrow was going to be back day... ugh... please someone call me a whaaaaambulance! haha! I'll walk some, do some of the recommended stretches and see how it feels tonight/tomorrow. My show isn't until November 4th so I have plenty of time to recover.

Some of those symptoms fit but the ache isn't just on one side, seems to be right in the middle. I'll give it a day or two and use some heat on it tonight, and take some ibuprophen. Thanks again

It's definitely not torn. I tore both my calves and they turned black and I could walk for weeks. Could be tendinitis

    Good to know.
I can tell you that I just did a fast pace walk for 30 minutes and did some stretching, specifically that area, and some rolling and it feels a lot better!

It feels completely better today... as if it never even happened. Hmmmm... strange indeed. Maybe it was just a small muscle strain or something unrelated. Who knows. I did Back today and am fine
