Benefiber

Okay, so I have a very large deficit for my calorie intake/day, and the weight has started to come off rather quickly. Along with that, I lost three inches off my waist alone (I haven't kept track of my other measurements as religiously, but I know I've lost at least an inch and a half off my thighs). Life's good and I'm happy, but (and I'm only guessing at the reason here) because my calorie intake is so low, I've cut out a lot of fiber I used to eat. To make up for that, I've started taking benefiber. It's working great, but unfortunately, it seems to be adding the inches back on my waist. My weight isn't increasing (in fact, it's still going down), but I'm very upset about the measurement of my waist (a great deal of my self esteem is wrapped up in those numbers. I know it's not good). Has anyone taken benefiber before? Is this permanent or is my body just adapting to it? Are there other methods I can use? Any help appreciated.

How low is your calorie intake? There are lots of sources of natural fiber. Suddenly increasing your fiber intake can add bloat which should eventually go away, that could be the reason.0

My deficit is usually at least 1000 cal/day, though full disclosure, my gym has been closed for the last two days so for those days it was closer to 700.1

My weight is about 158 lbs and my waist was 35 inches before I lost (I started at 190 lbs). It has recently been down to 28.5, but this morning it was up to 29.5 and tonight it's at 30.0

But what is your calorie intake?0

What if you only take 1 teaspoon instead of the 2? Maybe there will be less bloating and you may still see the benefits of the extra fiber? Or have you tried this already....
ETA: great user name BTW0 -

Oh I apologize, I misread. Depending on the workout I do that day my calorie intake ranges from about 1000 to as high as 1700.

I have not tried that. I have been taking one teaspoon (heaping) in the morning and one at night. I will definitely try just one in the morning.
And thank you

No problem, but going as low as 1000 is kind of steep. Ordinarily it should be pretty easy to get plenty of fiber from what you're eating, either way though it's probably bloat from more fiber than your body may be accustomed to, and it will sort itself out eventually. Also weight fluctuations can happen, I've had my waist go up and down a couple times by an inch or so. As long as it doesn't last more than a few weeks I wouldn't worry too much about it especially if your weight is steadily going down.1
