Tracking it anyway...

They say confession is good for the soul so here goes...I am currently sitting at 1500+ calories over my goal today. I had fun plans with friends for an afternoon painting party...which I did not know was going to have snacks...and wine. I decided to resist all the junk and have a glass of wine...and then I had another...and then I couldn't resist the brownies, lemon bars, pretzel rolls with jalapeno cheese sauce, oreo cupcakes, etc, etc, etc. The NSV however is that I tracked it. I would not have done that in the past and would have probably fallen off the wagon. There is something about tracking even a bad day that helps me move forward...write it down, accept it and move on. Calling it a cheat day and moving on.

Good for you for still logging it. Keeps you accountable to yourself but tomorrow is a fresh start!

Great that you logged, great that you had a fun day painting, not so great that you call it a cheat day.

It was life. Plain and simple life- and that is what you have managed very well.

Being able to take a day that is off schedule, for whatever reason, log, and then move on, is something a lot of people have a hard time handling, you did it right- you didn't cheat.

In the years to come, even when you are in maintenance, all those celebrations and unexpected fun times will occur, you now know how to handle it - log and move on. Well done.

    cheers, h.

One of the best posts ever! <3

As my dietician says, Life Happens. Besides, what's life if you can't have a little fun, it can't all be about watching what you eat, getting that exercise in and counting calories

Good for you for logging everything. It's ok to have the occasional cheat day/meal, just don't let it turn into a cheat weekend. Tomorrow is a new day ;)

So you have set the time you reach your goal back a few days. No big deal and I am sure totally worth it.

I find that when I tell myself I can skip on logging the truth of those off days, it is the beginning of a slippery slope to regain. I mean if it's not worth being honest, what's the point? Good for you!

    Woot, woot! Way to go!!

    1. You were honest with yourself.
    2. You logged anyway.
    3. You had a great time.
    4. You have a record of what a great time costs.
    5. You will have this experience in the back of your mind next time and may eat one less Oreo cupcake because of it.

    Overall win in my book!

I always say to each his own. Do whatever works for you. I log to keep myself within a certain amount of calories. Sometimes I log when I go overboard. Sometimes I don't. It doesn't make me any less or more accountable to myself either way because the damage is already done. I realize every morsel I put in my mouth. And I pretty much know how many calories I am eating. Just another perspective.

You're doing fine! Great that you logged this. To put it into perspective: you need 3500kcal over maintenance to gain 1lbs. You're nowhere near there, and even if: as long as you don't do this regularly it doesn't matter in the greater scheme of things. You might have a bit more waterweight the next few days, and more stuff in your gut, but that's probably it :)
