I'm 5'1, 31 years old, desk job. CW= 115. I like to be b/t 110-112, but find myself gaining a few pounds and then having to lose the same 5-6 pounds over and over to get my GW. I am obviously not hitting my maintenance calories correctly.

I'm 5'3" with a goal weight of 110. My maintenance is between 1400 - 1600 depending on the exercise I do that day (My Fitbit adds calories back in for me). Without exercise, 1300-1350 calories per day maintenance is about normal for me. I hover around 112 - 113 and I'm fairly happy with it, but I do have a bit "extra" on the hips that would be nice to eliminate. Does that help?4

I am 5ft 2" and I maintain at about 1500 but that's with a jolly good walk everyday5

I'm 5'2, my weight is 140 something lb and I really struggle to eat around 1,500 calories per day, so I could loose weight. If I eat this much I always feel hunger, never mind 1,300-1,400 calories! . Normal intake for me (without loosing weight) would be 1,750-1,800 per day.. Maybe I'll get used to lower intake one day3

I'm 5'1 and are maintaining at around 1100 cals per day, it's rubbish being a shortie!29

I'm 5'3'' currently 117lbs and I maintain around 1470-1520 on an average day (excluding exercise). I have a desk job and am pretty much sedentary on non-gym days.5

GEEZ!!!! 1100 calories is nothing. aren't you hungry? I am currently is a cycle of indulge and restrict to lose the few pounds I gained after indulging. what are you eating that fills you up enough to stay at 11oo? I eat a ton of protein and veggies, a quest bar for breakfast and a turkey sandwich (with no cheese or condiments) for lunch.0 -
My wife is 5'2" and 42 y.o...she maintains on around 2200-2300 calories.14

Thank goodness I am not alone. I am 5'3 and struggling to lose 25-30 pounds. In order to lose weight, I have to eat a ridiculously low amount of calories - usually no more than 1200. This is with or without exercise, and I have to deal with a great deal of hunger. I can maintain if I stay below 1500, but losing weight has been extremely difficult. I constantly get advice to eat more calories because I am not eating enough, but I can't seem to make people understand that I cannot do that. Advice???16

Yes, being a shortie sucks, especially if you are no longer 20 and can't afford to hit the gym regularly. People who have 2000 cals a day are trolls and can keep their comments for themselves36

I'm 5'3, 37 yrs old, 135ish, size 4: maintenance calories are around 2300 calories...heavy lifting FTW.11

45, 5'2.5”, 120ish. Sedentary maintenance is about 1300 for my skinny-fat self. 20-25K steps a day gets me about 1700-2000 gross cals or so for maintenance, I think? (I know I should cut back on cardio and lift more, but am struggling with giving up the extra cals that all my walking gives me each day. *le sigh* I love my evening snacks!! )11

5'1, maintain at 100-105lbs with a TDEE of around 1600.
MFP does have my sedentary maintenance at 1200 and that is a true number when I am barely moving lay under the apple tree reading a few good books for a week.
Add in my normal activity and I am at 1400-1450.
Add in exercise and I average 1600.
(All Estimated as I don't log anymore)
Not 20 any more, 20x3+4.
@BadBitchIncorporated if you haven't already, tighten up your logging and use a digital food scale for all solids and semisolids. It can be very slow when one only has 20 or so lbs to lose that is why accurate logging is needed. Stick with it, you will get there.

This thread is great! Now I can compare with others as well.. I'm 5'4", 40 Yrs, 114-115lbs. I eat 1500 cal, at maintenance, but I don't know if this is too low. I jog 3-4 days a week, 20 min. Lift light weights. I think I might have to up it a bit..4

Great to see this thread! I am 56, 5'1, currently 151, GW 133. I am losing slowly but surely on 1200 a day, I only need to go over by about 200 to stall so pretty sure that 1400 is MW. I do circuit training 2-3 times a week.3

kas1317 I'm on a ketogenic diet, so my hunger is much reduced, it's the only diet that works for me, carbs just make me sooo hungry/hangry I just wish I'd discovered this way of eating years ago !!!
Maintaining at 105lbs9 -
I'm 5' 1" and eat between 1600 to 2000 to maintain at 126-128. I do exercise quite a bit.0

I would love your BMR!
Being short and old most calculators have me between 950-1000,
Never sure of the accuracy, and I don't want to pay for a test. I would just like to say it was higher.
Cheers, h.7 -
Yeah it sucks being older, although I don't exercise but I know if I try eating 1200 I put on weight.7
-
Oh right! I forgot the age factor. Sorry ladies, I didn't mean to be rude8

I'm 5 ft 2.6 inches and had a Med Gem Test to validate my rate, which, unfortunately, was right on par with what I'd suspected. Despite working out 1.5 hours a day (moderate strength, vigorous cardio, stretching) 5/6 days a week, at a weight of 112-116, my calories = 1258. I'm 44 yrs old and work at a sedentary office job, but I Do have a stand-up desk.5

Early 30s, 5' 1/2". CW: 111-113. Original GW was 105 but I've put on muscle. MFP tells me maintenance is 1440, but I'm trying to get to 108-110 so I'm doing 1200 again.
Keep fluctuating the same 2-3 pounds for the last two months. Maybe I should stay at 110?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯1 -

That wasn't being rude, and no need to be sorry
If I was in my 20's early 30's my BMR would be similar to yours.
Between 24- 64 my BMR has dropped 200 cals ( at the same weight).
That is completely normal.
A person will lose berween 50-100cals per decade depending on height, weight, and gender. Average stats based on general population. Moving more and retaining muscle will help off set the age decline BMR.
Cheers, h.

Five three, 120 lb, 48 years old, and 1400 cals. bloody miserable imho10

I'm 4'11 and 130 pounds. I eat about 1200 calories a day and try to work out everyday1

I'm 5'1.5 and trying to maintain 108 lbs. I eat low carbs which really helps (mostly just from fruits and veggies). Right now I'm eating about 1100 calories per day and I exercise (run or bike) at least 30 minutes each day. I usually have one day a week where I eat between 1400 and 1500. Good to know that I'm not the only one that has to keep calories so low. It does really suck to be short.4

Thank you to everyone who answered in this thread. I am 5'3" and still working on the weight loss (down 70, halfway to goal!) and seeing the range of maintenance calories is really helpful/interesting.4

Two thoughts. One, perhaps your body likes to be at that weight? And two, maintenance really is losing the same few pounds over and over again. I diet for a while, enjoy a vacation or holiday season/birthday/anniversary, then tighten things up again.16 -
This thread has been really helpful. I've been super discouraged because my tall husband, who is on a bulk, gets to eat 3,000 cal a day and then complains that he's too full.6

I hear ya! Hubby and I can go on the same hike, and while he needs thousands of cals to refeed and can't eat them all, I am pouting over my sad salad or telling myself that my Halo Top will eventually ease my hunger. Being short and cute has its drawbacks!5
