Didn't eat enough calories today

I am a Crime Scene Tehnician and I was really busy today so I wasn't able to have a couple snacks. With breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I still have 1000 calories left. When I closed out my day, it gave me a lecturing message about not eating enough calories. I know not eating enough is bad but I'm full. I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to eat if I'm not hungry.

If it's just one day, I wouldn't worry about it. You may find you're hungrier tomorrow, or you can use those extra calories this weekend. But if this happens regularly, eat those snacks. Your body needs fuel, and eating too few calories can do some serious damage to your health.2

Just posting to say what a fascinating job you have.1

This is when it would be nice if MFP had an option to rollover calories to the next day. Since the weekly average is what matters, you should be able to add at least some of your calories tomorrow.6

So if you know it's not good to undereat by 1,000 calories, really would it kill you to eat at least 500? What do you hope to gain by going so far under?
Aren't you committed to developing good habits and healthy practices? I do think that daily balance is important, it's about more than "weekly average" when you are talking huge swings of 1000 calories or more. Yes 100-200 per day not a big deal if you are eating your recommended amount, but 1,000, really? I would think you would need good nourishment to perform at your best in your demanding job.2 -
This happens to me all the time. I'll be having bariatric surgery soon and I've learned to eat less than 1,000 calories a day because that's the amount they will want me to eat.
The It would be nice if Fitness Pal could install a bariatric program for us so that it won't scold us and not give us a weight loss projection.1 -
Have a delicious treat tommorow!0

If it isn't a dietary habit I wouldn't worry about it. I work in the operating room during surgery which sometimes means L-O-N-G days without being able to eat "all" my calories. The biggest think I focus on during those long days is not binge eating when I get home.0

They have these lovely little snacks called Graze at Walgreens ,and they are about 230 calories for Belgium chocolated buttond, dried tart cherries, almonds, and they help me get my calories in some. Also KIND bars. Yesterday I was under by 1,300 something because I walked for around 5 hours at the mall and other stores shopping for my sons back to school stuff and MFP said I burned over 1000 calories, and then my Jillian Michaels workout burnes about 200 something as well. But I guess I had a hard time believing I burned so much cals. I'm also on an intermittent fasting schedule thay I love keeping. So it was close to that time .Best I could do was eat a KIND bar and some Godiva chocolate squares.I was full from Charlies Philly Cheese steaks, I got the Veggie Delight. But yeah I hear ya, it's hard sometimes getting the calories in.Taking Trail mix type stuff offers great calories for not getting to full, due to the nuts and maybe chocolate bits!! It's a win-win!!!0

If you're extra hungry tomorrow, remember you have leftover calories from today. I tend to forget to eat when I'm busy as well. Start packing higher-calories snacks, like nuts, if this ends up happening often!

Sometimes this happens to me, maybe not 1000 calories under, but still a significant margin. I try not to overthink it - one day out of many won't make much of an impact. One of my goals is to stop eating when I'm full. You'll probably feel a bit hungrier tomorrow. The reality is this won't be sustainable if it starts happening regularly. If you start to notice this is becoming a regular occurrence I'd recommend looking at your daily intake and trying to fit in some more calorie dense foods like nuts, PB, full fat greek yogurt, etc to round it out a bit.0

Had a similar experience. Started logging one day, got a stomach bug, so quit eating and logging, got the message. Next day still sick. Had soup only, but logged, got message. Really? Of course I'd rather eat. Just not always possible. Hopefully will soon be eating again! I AM hungry!
