Do you want small or big?

Small: I would go with a min-pin. Awesome little cuddlers. But also active enough they make a great running partner.

Large: Australian Shepherd. Super smart and protective. Also a great running partner.

Actually, dog breeds vary vastly as far as personalities and traits so it's best to do some research and see what kind of dog best fits your family, your personality, your living arrangements, etc.

get a rescue dog if you can. My great dane is very cuddly and loving, but just hates the neighbours dog. My golden retriever female was hell till she was 1.5yrs old, destroyed everything around the house, but is now very well trained and easy to manage. Both were rescue dogs adopted at 6 months age.

Isn't he the cutest? I was teasing about him being the worst. I mean he is, but I still love him.
