To break or not to break....

Breakfast that is...
I have never been into breakfast, preferring to start eating later in the day. On a busy day I can happily go until the afternoon without eating anything, or maybe having a piece of fruit mid morning at most. This leaves me with more calories to enjoy for lunch and dinner too, which I always use sensibly. However, I know that the advice from nutritionists always is to eat a healthy breakfast, soon after waking, you'll crave unhealthy choices blah blah.
So, my question is: as long as the meals I eat later in the day consist of good choices and as long as I don't go over my calorie goal, is going without breakfast such a bad thing??
Any advice gratefully received!

You have a good plan that works for you. :star::star::star:
That breakfast thing was invented by the cereal companies.

Breakfast is the first meal of the day, because... wait for it... you're breaking your fast! You can break your fast whenever you want.
Advice is always taken out of context, and often given without context, too.
IF not eating immediately after you wake up makes you end up overeating, THEN it's smart to eat an early breakfast.

Breakfast is really a personal preference, as long as you're getting adequate nutrition across your day and it doesn't affect your energy levels, do what works for you.

Many people do Intermittent Fasting 16:8 which is essentially what you're doing.
I don't eat breakfast until around 10am and I am up at 7:30am.

When I started on MFP a few months ago I ate breakfast because... you're supposed to eat breakfast.
I stopped a few weeks ago because I don't need to eat that early and like you, I'd much rather have the calories later in the day.
Find the balance that works for you - one time a day or 6 times a day.

As long as your not over eating or making bad choices later then I would continue just eating when you naturally feel ready and hungry. New research suggests a morning fast can really aid weight loss. I'm trying it but unfortunately one of those people who's starving as soon as my eyes open lol lasted until 10am today

My 4 year old wants breakfast the moment she wakes up. Literally rolls out of bed and wants to know where it is. Little freak

If I'm remembering right, in a study of people who lost weight and kept it off at least a year, maybe 60% of them ate breakfast. Which means that 40% of people who lose weight and keep it off skip breakfast. So you do you.

Ha! I'm totally with her. I am pouring out my cereal before my eyes are even fully open (sometimes I miss the bowl a little). Today, I had to wait to eat breakfast because of some bloodwork this morning. Thought I was going to DIE.
