Lunch, about 4 hours before my after work workout. Some water during the day and during the workout, after which, and after a cool down walk with the puppy and shower (not with the puppy), dinner. Eat pretty much what I would if I wasn't working out. Haven't found the need for anything special. BUT, during my Half Marathon, and the long runs leading thereto, I did use Gu's.

Unless it's 2+ hours of hard cycling nothing special, exercise just fits in my normal eating schedule.

Never had the desire to take stimulants before exercise and unless your exercise is very long duration you have plenty of fuel onboard already.

Nothing if I am working out noon or earlier, lunch likely 3-5 hours prior if I'm working out after work.

If I have time, coffee. Otherwise nothing or a few swigs of water. Can't drink during exercise, it makes me want to throw up.

I've got a 10k coming up though which doesn't start til 10 and it's nearly an hour away so I'll probably do a couple of practice long runs eating at couple of hours beforehand.

On weekends I don't eat before working out if it's before noon, just eat late breakfast or lunch after my workout. Weekdays I eat a protein bar about an hour before my late afternoon/early evening workout.

PB2 oatmeal or yogurt (with fiber added,) or a caramel rice cake with peanut butter, or a granola bar if I am on the trail.

A protein shake, and about a half pound of frozen blueberries an hour before. God I love me some fruit.

Right now all my mid week runs get done fasted. I'm training for a HM, so I'll have to experiment with eating something before running. Taking a pill that requires 30 minutes wait time before I eat anything complicates things. Sigh.

I eat half a protein bar and the other half right after. I work out first thing in the morning.

My current go to bars are Rx Bars, Lemon Cashew Zing bars, and Think Thin high protein bars (though these have fake sugar so I don't like to eat them that often).

Coffee and something, anything, that is easy and quick to eat. Yesterday, a protein bar. Today, a large blueberry muffin and extra butter and a protein bar.

Most of time just coffee ( I run & swim fasted in the AM except for my long runs on Sundays where I'll have toast & PB and a banana a couple of hours before heading out)

Usually I don't eat - fasted cardio/workout. After I always have a undenatured whey protein shake with my postworkout.

If you have to eat before your workout, the body doesn't store potassium for very long, so a medium banana before a workout will help keep nutrient levels high.

If you lift heavy weights - Carbohydrates that are low glycemic. Like nuts, beans, pasta, fruits, brown rice, sweet potatoes, all-bran grains and vegetables. For example - bowl of rolled oats with a scoop of whey protein and some peanut butter, and sliced banana. You can add milk if you want. And use PB2 powder is you are watching fat intake (IIFYM)

    Nothing immediately b4.

If I eat something, I wait at least an hr or 2 for the food to digest b4 working out. Otherwise, I feel bloated and lethargic.

    Morning cardio: coffee and water

Lifting: about 30-60 minutes before I hit the gym, a full meal (4oz protien, 1/2 cup complex carbs, 1 cup veggies)

If I wake up before 6am to workout I usually just grab a Fiber One Protein bar and drink a crystal light energy. If it is later in the morning I will just eat my usual breakfast beforehand, oats mixed in with protein powder, yogurt and fruit.

I exercise directly after I get off of work and I'm usually exhausted because I'm have a physical job, so I eat a banana to get that boost I need.
