So....... I'll be having some people over this weekend to watch the World Cup Final, and I want to try and incorporate (healthy) foods that are both Spanish and Dutch. I'd like to make it something a lil' fancy/exotic, but nothing too time-consuming since I have a 13-mile run planned for the morning. Any recommendations would be appreciated!!

Paella is Spanish I believe. Very yummy served family style and if you use chicken breast and seafood like shrimp then very quick to prepare. Tapas is fun but might be more time consuming unless you pick it up from Costco.

Here is a REAL good recipe for Stout Braised Short Ribs....the nice thing is it cooks in a slow cooker. then you can have veggies, slaw and such on the side. http://www.williams-sonoma.com/recipe/stout-braised-short-ribs.html

oh man!!! actually, I grew up eating homemade potato fries on mayo with LOTS of salt. it's probably a close relative to crack because I couldn't eat enough of it!!! hence the problem I have today :ohwell:

;) Going with tapas (spanish omelette and the stuffed tomatoes), the stout-braised short ribs, and..... Heineken.

Dutch food is not that appealing! Other than the crack that is fries and mayonnaise -- and I had a hard enough time giving up smoking; I don't want to set myself up for that 12-step program....
