How do you estimate calories burnt?

I played tennis this morning for a couple of hours. How do I estimate the calories spent?
I put in the generic app measure for doubles and it said I burnt nearly 1000 calories. However I know the quality of tennis this morning was significantly weaker than I normally play and as such I wasn't stretched to run as much as normal. I adapted this down to pretend I had only played for 1 hour.
Is there any way to more accurately estimate calories spent?
Also do you eat the extra calories it gives you or do you add it to give you a larger deficit?

So if you think it is too high then just reduce it. Maybe only log half. If you find you're losing too fast, log a higher amount. If you're losing too slow, log a lower amount.
If you're using MFP as intended you'd eat them.0 -
Just adjust the time. If you played for an hour and half effort, put in 30 minutes instead of an hour.0
