Tips for working out with a foot injury?

Hello,

I wondered if anyone had suffered a foot injury (mine is a sprain to the ball of my foot), and managed to find a decent routine to keep active while recovering? Any advice on how you managed your recovery, greatly appreciated also!

Basically low / no impact to the foot, so have been doing (careful) squats and upper body weights, plus bodyweight exercises that don't involve any weight on my foot. Can manage lunges etc if I'm very careful.

Anybody found a good recovery routine? I'm so frustrated, can barely even walk at the moment, but really keen to keep active and not lose my way!

Thank you :flowerforyou:

For a year now, I have had to deal with hamstring tendinitis/ osis / which meant I had to avoid certain exercises, at first. More than now. Luckily I had both my feet. But many things that. Involve the legs were no-no, and it's the leg muscles that burn the most energy.

I can jump again but if I couldn't...

Bicycling. Stationary bike or spinning doesn't involve you getting off the bike to stop at a traffic light and so might be useful, but yes, you pedal withi your feet, it depends whether you can do that.

    Swimming, obviously.

Circuit training has the advantage of switching exercises, and there always some that don't involve the feet. If you can do lunges... Static lunge with biceps curl; side lunge with lifting weights; can you do squats? Pullups? Abs and strength exercises, of course, pushups, crunches.

Punches (boxing in the air) for cardio.

How about kettlebell exercises? In most of them you stand but don't move the feet much, is that a possibility?

Is it a possibility to join a gym? They have a lot of fitness equipment that doesn't involve using the feet.

    Wishing you a speedy recovery.

    Hello,

Thanks so much, really helpful! Funnily enough I have just started Kettlebell workouts as a way of getting as much of a workout as I can without too much pressure on my foot.

Lots of good advice, thank you - I was a huge advocate of gym classes, but its just too much on my foot right now.

Boxing is a great idea, will have a look at that as well, thank you :drinker:
