Fitbit and cardio

I've used my fitbit to track my steps and that's about it (I'm still working my way through MFP). I wear my fitbit to all my cardio: elliptical, zumba, u-Jam, etc. I'm concerned that if I add the cardio to my tracker/diary, it will show more calories than I should. Is my assumption correct? Should just keep tracking steps and not track anything else? Or is there a better option?

I just let fitbit do its thing but it is up to you. Eating back excessive amounts of exercise calories didn't work for me, but if you're losing too rapidly you can always switch to adding in exercise separately to get more calories.1

I have a Fitbit charge 2...in the workout setting, I'll mark my elliptical time (the algorithm is such that I'm not "double counting" steps and exercise), but yes like Ready2Rock said, other than that I let it do its thing. I know I'm not double counting because I'm losing consistently.1
