How long does a hernia treatment take me out from gym?

I think I may have hernia and want to get treated. I have researched a lot and the symptoms seem to be the same as what I am having now. How long will be surgery prevent me being in the gym? Also share me your opinions about Shouldice hospital -- http://www.shouldice.com/

    Full rest for at least 2 weeks probably more. But back in the gym i couldn't say

    A word of warning from someone who had one. DO NOT push your luck. I ended up having the same operation twice as the first attempt blew back through in about 2 months i wasn't working out at the gym at the time, in fact i was pretty lazy.

    That said the potential health issues from ignoring it could put you out a whole lot longer

    I hope that is a reasonable perspective.
