What is your activity level set to? The sync should be comparing to that.
This thread is really informative..........

You get negative adjustments when you tracker synchs and your activity is less than stated in your activity level. 5,000 steps would make sense given that a sedentary activity level setting would account for up to 5000 steps or equivalent activity.1 -
so say i have not done much at all today and only 823 steps so far and my sister is at 752 steps my adjustment is -138 and her excersie is at 105.....both set at the same activity level0

So many have said that the setting sedentary is your bmr (never leaving your bed) so I don't understand why if you have done 823 steps there wouldn't be even a small positive adjustment, why such a large negative?? Watching to see what ppl answer for you.0

Sedentary doesn't mean bmr and never leaving your bed...a sedentary activity level generally accounts for up to 5,000 steps or equivalent activity.4 -

Minute by minute.....hour by hour. Don't do that. If you've started out the day really active and FitBit is comparing to a sedentary setting.....and then the rest of the day your ARE sedentary and FitBit is comparing to sedentary.....of course the adjustments aren't going to match up.
I'm probably not explaining it right (see link above...much better) but let everything settle out.
Check your numbers after a few days.....at the end of the day.2 -
thank you for the info, have to do more searching because I still do not understand why i am always in a negative adjustment. can it be to do with height and heart rate.....i am very short and low heart rate.....i dont get it but again thank-you for trying.....0

Sorry cwolfman13 I was mixed up you are right!! I didn't realize that 5000 steps was sedentary activity level. Good to know.0

The negative adjustment is comparing what your Fitbit thinks you'll burn in the day and what MFP thinks. Mine is negative most of the time until the end of the day when I go to the gym and I'm generally more active than sitting at my desk all day. Just because your friend gets + adjustment and you don't it's probably to do with your individual differences such as height and weight. You can disable the negative adjustments if you want too.1

It's a really bizarre function. I switched it off after losing calorie allowance by going for a 3 mile walk. Had I stayed on my backside, I wouldn't have lost calories.
Edited because I'm not 12 and giggling over words for bottom.0
