Hi guys,

It's been a while now with my plans and exercises to get in shape. I would like to have some friends who already were sucessful or ones who are trying to achieve body recompisition. I am 29 yrs old weighing 116 kg. Right now I am incorporating low carb high protein moderate fat nutritional plan with deficit total daily calorie intake. I would like also to include some motivated pals to help me keep going. Please feel free to add me... ;)

You'd have to be more specific as to what you consider success. I've been in recomp for nearly a year now with some exceptions. I've been able to build quite a bit more muscle along the way, and have reached a bunch of my fitness goals. I'm not there yet though, recomp takes a very long time depending on your goals. I have done a slight bulk (to the tune of a couple hundred extra calories a day) over a six month period, and just finished cutting a couple of pounds back, and have now moved back into recomp mode until September when I'll try to cut back a couple more pounds. My goal at this point would be to continue to maintain, if not build, a little more muscle and drop some fat in the process. It would be much faster to just do a more severe cut and drop 10 lbs, but because of the fitness goals I want to reach I need to continue to gain some strength and endurance, both of which is very difficult in a severe deficit.

I started in September of 2016 slowly moving up to maintenance calories until around November of 2016 when I weighed in at 178lbs, about 12 lbs below my original goal. I had very little muscle, and was somewhere around 11% body fat. I moved up to maintenance calories and in January even added a couple hundred calories a day until August of this year. I then dropped back to a 500 calorie a day deficit for about four weeks and managed to lose about 2.3lbs. I'm now moving back up to maintenance for a couple of weeks, and will drop back 500 calories a day again in September and see where I am first of October. If' I am not at my goal, I'll continue to cut throughout October. My 'goal' isn't really a number on the scale these days. It's more of a body fat % mixed with some fitness goals. My fitness goals were to build muscle, and to be able to do a 5k in under 30 minutes, and do 10 consecutive pull ups (not chin ups, I can do those now). I'm down to 32 minutes on the 5k (bad knees, bad back, trust me, 32 minutes is a hell of an accomplishment for me), have built quite a bit of muscle in my abs, arms, and legs, and am still working on the pull ups (which is why I switch back to recomp from time to time to keep the muscles fueled).

It's a process, and it's different for everyone. I'm hoping for a total of 5-8lbs loss by Thanksgiving, at which time I'll switch back into recomp again for the winter, maybe even do a slight bulk until spring. Have not decided yet. What does success mean to you? It's not always a clear-cut picture.
