I thought it could be useful to have a thread where we can put all things that we want to remember and to repeat to ourselves when we loose the mojo or fall out of a great mindset.

I think it could be helpful to write down things like why have we started or some tricks and mental tools that worked for coping with challenging situations...like how to deal with a social gatherings, pushy family members, those days of the month, temporary abundance of favorite food, stressful days, deadlines, fights with SO, plateaus, cravings, impatience, finishing food after kids, etc...

Here are few core stuff I want to remember and come back to:

CICO All nutritional philosophies can be reduced to a simple CICO. It's the only scientific proven way of loosing weight. Food logging is irreplaceable for mindful eating and staying within calorie budget. At least for now.

Exercise is not necessary for a weight loss.
That being said, activities like gardening, walking, dancing, doing things around the house help a lot. All those activities create a significant calorie deficit, at the same time keeping me busy and occupied.

Snacking is one of the things that can make or break my day, calorie wise. When I don't snack, surprisingly I feel like:
    • my sugar levels are more stable
    • my focus on the work/other things is better because I feel free of thinking about food and debating with myself should I have it or not
    • I have more time
    • I consume less calories
    • I am more productive
    • I feel so much more free and "in the moment"
    • I spend less money :)

It's ok to say no. People don't like to hear 'no' in the moment, but afterwards my loved once will be proud and happy with my success.

Plans are evil. At least for me. I do best with just doing things, step by step, enjoying every day.

Mindset is what makes things hard or easy. Mindset that has been working for me the best can be summarized with:
    • healthy/eating in moderation is good, enjoyable thing
    • It's great to feel light and move easily not overstuffed with food
    • deprivation is state of mind, not body
    • we are born to enjoy many life joys, activities, moving, sun, nature, competition, creativeness, relationships, parenthood, work, creativities...etc. food is just one joy in the ocean of life joys.
    • I am not on a diet, I am on an only sane way of living

Depression is very evil, because it deprives us, not only of this moment in the present, but it tends to also steel all our future moments by telling us all this sad stories about ourselves. Not every thought that comes to mind should be trusted.
