Running shoes?

My current running shoes are cheap, 3 years old, and tearing apart, so now I'm getting a new pair. What are your favorites? Which ones are the best for endurance events like marathon?

I wouldn't mind paying a lot of money for them, but I do want something that last at least 2 - 3 years.

Go to a running store and have them fit you for a pair. If you are training for a marathon and running long distances don't expect your shoes to last that long. You'll rack up the mileage pretty quick.

Go to a specialty store that sells running shoes and let them fit you. After several years of my feet hurting I went to one and guess what I was wearing the wrong size they sized me up and never looked back. But my shoes are New Balance 860 for warm weather and Brooks Ghosts GTX for the colder winter months (Gortex lined). Also dont expect them to last 2-3 years. 4 months if your lucky, you should replace them every 300-400 miles. I maybe get 6 months out of mine if I replace the insole but I really should replace the shoe but insoles are cheaper. I usually go thru 3-4 pair a year 2 of the new balance and 2 of the Brooks.

I recently bought a pair of Reebok ZigLite Electrify. They are fantastic running shoes!! I am a beginner runner and they are working well for me.

A running store would help you out. I have flat feet and recently bought the Asic Nimbus 15. I LOVE them. They haven't yet hurt my feet.

When I started running, I, too had a pair of old, cheap Wal-Mart brand of shoes. I ran on those for a few weeks until I strained the tendons in my knee, could barely walk, had to see the doctor, wear a knee brace & stop running for a while. GET A GOOD PAIR OF SHOES!!

I was told New Balance, over a 600, or Brooks I have New Balance 608v3. They cost $65, and, for me, they were expensive. I keep them only for running, and by that, I mean, put them on, step out the door, do my work out, then either come in the house or drive home, then take them off, and put them back in the box (of course leaving the box open for a while to air out!)..not to see the ground again until it's time to run.

Next time I buy shoes, I plan to go to a running store & spend the extra money for a professional fitting and get a really good pair.

I went to a running store and got fit. I currently have the Brooks brand. They cost me $110 but it's some of the best money I've spent this year so far.
