Cheat day average gain?

Hello all!

The good news is that I have figured out why I haven't been able to lose weight over the past 6 months. Bread and dairy. I cut both out completely 8 days ago and I lost 5 lbs. The bad news is that I had a cheat meal last Saturday (so two days ago) and I ordered the black bean burger (no cheese) from buffalo wild wings with fries. I did eat the bun. I weighed in this morning and I gained 2 lbs. I have two questions:

1. Could this weight gain be from Saturday night?
2. Do you guys gain any weight after a cheat meal?

I'm wondering if a cheat meal is even worth it at this point. It was tasty but seeing the 2 lbs gained made me feel awful today. On a side note, I have NOT been drinking much water because I bit the hell out of my tongue Saturday night so liquids hurt lol.

    1. It could be, but it's not fat unless you ate 7000 calories over maintenance. Most likely it's from the excess sodium/carbs.
    2. I don't do cheat meals, but weight naturally fluctuates.

You didn't lose because you weren't in a calorie deficit. Cutting those items out created the deficit, but it isn't necessary unless you have health reasons to avoid bread or dairy.

I eat over maintenance a couple of times a week. I lose weight because I eat under maintenance the other five days and it comes out to a total deficit. You're probably just retaining water, you'll be fine. Have a bun now and again. I promise that if someone serves you a 7000 calorie hamburger bun and you eat it in a single sitting, you will know. And probably barf, so there's some calories lost right there!
