I've lost 35 pounds in the past year and am now overweight but at the same size I was as a teenager. This was my first goal, and it's clear now I can lose another 20 pounds to fall into the healthy bmi range. I'm 5'6, 175, late 30s, have always been overweight, have been obese for the past decade. Diet has been fairly easy, I still eat some junk, just count everything. I like the slow/steady approach because I think I'd quit if I felt deprived. I don't work out, but I do walk 5-10 miles a day (for transportation rather than fitness).

But now I'm not happy with my "new" body. My arms are still huge and floppy, I'm still rectangle shaped, my butt has vanished, leaving flab without shape in back of me. My bra band size hasn't changed but cup size went down, to the extent that stores don't seem to carry bras for women as wide & flat as I am. I thought I'd be happier at this point, but I'm pretty down.

I know the next step needs to be lifting and toning but that just sounds awful and is inconvenient/expensive (I can afford it). How do I cheer up about this and look forward to improving my body rather than wallow about how little improvement I've seen so far?

You can do this! I only exercise at home and it is inexpensive and easier than getting to a gym. I have a nice selection of workout videos that I mix and mingle so I don't get bored. Some are walking (Leslie Sansone is a nice place to start), some are strength and cardio (I am a huge fan of Jillian Michaels). All you need is a little space, some light handweights and a mat. So worth it! You will start toning up and it will also help you to continue to lose weight as you burn more calories and have more muscle mass.
