    I reflect.
I sit down and think, "Do you want to eat THIS? Or just something? Do you want to EAT or just stay busy?"
And then I reflect what is stressing me out so much that I want to overeat. And why, and what I can do actually change the situation. I also think about how much I would feel guilty for stress eating, and how much guilt stresses me out. Which makes me realize that emotionally I could make my situation worse by eating.
While I sit down and reflect, I drink as much as I can out of my bottle of water that I tend to have around.
So in the end, I know if I really want to eat something (sometimes I do and some more nutrition can help me to cope with the stress in a more constructive way), what I can do instead to lower my stress and in the "worst case" I am at least so filled up with water that I won't eat too much.

I think it's good to identify the time of day when you feel comparatively stressed and see if you can do something different at that time such as going for an exercise class or for a walk.

    I usually handle it poorly.
