I tried this recipe years ago, mostly because I wanted to see how the sauerkraut would turn out. You really can't taste it at all and it gives the cake a nice texture. I tweaked the recipe and substitute half of the sugar with Splenda and half of the butter with applesauce changing the nutrition facts to 143 calories, 27.6 carbs and 3.3 grams of fat per serving. I like to eat this was a tiny bit of Vanilla ice cream. It's definitely on the darker side of chocolate cake0
