Kinda stupid question on weight loss

It usually takes me a full seven days to lose a pound. But I'm not sure what to do in this case. Let's say I have stayed in a calorie deficit for 4 days straight and on the fifth day something comes up and I had to eat more so I ate to maintain that day. Would I have to start all over again with a full seven days of deficit eating to lose a pound or do I just continue where I left off on the 6th day eating in a calorie deficit? How do you handle times like these? When your eating could be perfect but an event comes in to play and messes your whole week up.

I tend to go off a weekly calorie goal rather than a daily for precisely this reason. your body doesn't reset to zero at midnight, and the overall trend is key.
So my goal is 1440, right? 1440 * 7 = 10,080 a week.
If I eat around 1200 on days where I don't have anything on (usually weekdays), 1200 * 5 = 6,000 calories
This leaves me 4080 for the weekend, where I have have a 1500 day and a 2500 day, or 2 x 2000 days, or whatever.
If during the week I have an event and one of my 1200 days becomes an 1800 day, that leaves me with 3400 for the weekend - I can still have a 2000 day and a 1400 day and stay at my weekly goal.
All with the same results as if I was eating my same calorie goal every day of the week.5
