Fun with "Meals"

Hey All,
I've been playing around with Recipes and Meals on the MFP website and I want to share two things I have discovered. I've started making a sandwich of which I eat half of for breakfast and the other half for lunch. I discovered these methods by attempting to simplify entering in half of a sandwich without having to split everything in my head.
1) The new recipe maker will not allow you to use another recipe as an ingredient. I made a mayonnaise recipe that I wanted to add to my sandwich recipe and was not able to do that. The work around (which I did find on the FAQ section) is to save the recipe-to-be-added as a meal, then use the old recipe maker, and then add the meal to the recipe. That worked.
2) The meal is easier to use than the recipe for splitting a meal. I found this technique this morning. Instead of creating a new recipe and then searching for ingredients I did the following. On an empty meal (lunch), add all the foods, for me it was two slices of bread, fifty grams of peanut butter and one tablespoon of jam. Then, using the quick tools, save the meal as a meal, I called mine "PB&J (50g PB)". Then delete all the food items to clear the meal. Then add food, select meals, select the meal you created, then set the amount to the portion you desire, for me it was 0.5 of a meal. Then I added the other half of the sandwich to breakfast.
Based on the above, it seems that meals are the new recipes.

Generally when I split something and have part for lunch and part for dinner I just enter the entire thing into lunch. All the calories are there and meal timing doesn't matter, so it's okay to leave a meal "blank".2
