I started fermenting kefir just about one year ago in hopes of providing a benefit to my lactose-intolerant daughter. She even agreed that it was a good effort. As it turns out, she does not use it. I do. I have used kefir to make protein shakes which I still occasionally use. I had one last night. I have used kefir to make a smoothie for breakfast. I had one yesterday morning. I have used kefir to make overnight oats. The overnight oats made with kefir and left to ferment at room temperature were much nicer in taste and texture than the overnight oats made with milk in the refrigerator. It appears that the lactobacillus did a good number on the grains. I have used kefir on breakfast cereal. That only worked well with the cocoa-flavored cereals. I have not used kefir as a lonely drink, although I've seen some recipes for flavored kefir which I may try to create.

I have more recently been making and drinking kombucha, although my expertise with creating and using it is non-existent.

How do you expect kefir to affect the health? It has all the fat and nutrients of the source milk, and 1% or less of the lactose. I have enjoyed the learning I've done with kefir, and I've enjoyed discovering the tasty things I can do with kefir. I expect to keep making and using kefir.

I've also been making yogurt, and recently learned that I could make yogurt with powdered milk. The batch of powder milk yogurt I made last weekend is very delicious. I'm considering making powder milk kefir from the same combination of powders to see if the flavor is any more mild.

Is it good for skin? And what about over all health like digestion etc

Main concern is that does it get freshness on face?

I love kefir, but my grains always multiplied so fast, I just couldn't keep up with it. And I didn't want it every day, but you have to keep those grains fed and healthy. As far as digestion, it works for me like any probiotic...it keeps me regular. It also helped lessen my seasonal allergies. I don't think it did anything for my face.

I eventually threw my grains away. I tried to give them away, but nobody wanted them. Now, I on occasion buy fruit flavored kefir. It's a tasty milkshake, but I suspect the store bought stuff full of sugar and fruit isn't particularly beneficial. Trader Joe's had it on sale this week.

I take pro-biotics. I have never heard that they clear up skin issues. They have not helped my digestion, but have made me more regular.

I used it for the first time

    It worked like a charm

Today I wake-up went to brush my teeth and looked at my face ran back to My mother and asked her do I really have freshness on my face

She was surprised and took my pics too

Never had this freshness on my face in years

May be you people are already healthy that's why you didn't realize the difference

    I am so excited

I don't have skin problems so I don't know. My daughter and wife suffer eczema. My wife's skin benefits from soaking her feet in a tub of warm water and a cup of Epsom salts for 20 minutes. The Epsom salts contain magnesium and the magnesium is absorbed through the skin. Most humans are deficient in magnesium.

No one else in my family drinks the kefir.

Good for you! The effect of the Epsom salt soak on my wife was just as remarkable and exciting.

Do you include an abundance of colorful fruits and vegetables in your meals each day? That alone would be the biggest influence on overall well-being any of us could do.

Well not exaggerating, I am also surprised too

I am sure no one will believe it cuz I can't believe my eyes too

Third day of kefir and a hard patch of psoriasis from my wrist vanished

If you people know anyone suffering from psoriasis please tell them to start kefir immediately
