Hi guys, happy Monday to everyone. I'm pretty new here and have a long journey ahead of me, but I'm already down 12 lbs in about 7 weeks, and more importantly my attitude is starting to slowly change about turning to food for comfort.
So, from my previous failed attempt at weight loss, I remember how important it is to have goals that aren't scale related...anyone want to share?
Mine is to have a normal size bath towel wrap around me and not have anything hanging out! Sorry for the imagery lol

I've been a vegetarian for at least 6 years. In the last couple weeks, I've decided to go vegan. So my NSV goal is to succeed at the transition to vegan. This mostly means giving up eggs and dairy. I love cheese! And I love my egg salad with sweet pickle relish!
I recently read Dr. Neale Bernard's Program for Reversing Diabetes. It made a compelling argument to avoid animal proteins of every kind. I'm also familiar with Dean Ornish's work and lecture series. He makes the same point.0 -
Congrats to you on taking that step! and on your success so far, its a huge accomplishment! Thanks for replying. :happy:0

BUMP!! There's so many wonderful threads on this site0

i haven't thought about NSV goals. I have usually just taken NSVs as little bonuses along the way0

Welcome to the forum! Nothing specific here but will certainly celebrate any NSV's that come my way.
By the way... how is Barrie these days? I lived in the south end for years0 -
NSV Goals:
Fit back in my old rodeo pants!
No visible muffin top.
Collar bones and hip bones more evident(not that I like bone, I think they're sexy) who knows if they'll show as mine aren't that big.0 -
Welcome to MFP and congrats on your weight loss so far!
I want to be able to wear high heels without wanting to commit suicide after five minutes in them.
I want to be able to wear a sleeveless shirt without scaring small children.
I want to be able to find something that fits me in any normal clothing store I walk into without having to ask if they carry my size.
I want to be able to sit on/in any flimsy folding chair I see without having to check the tag for the weight limit.
I want to get strong enough to do a pull-up.
I want to be able to walk a half-marathon.
And that's just for starters!0 -
I want to be happy.0

I am in the process of my NSV goals. I purchased a suit from Armani Exchange. However, it was too small (I was using their website's suggestions for measurements). I have another coming from that company. It will be 42 Long and 34 by 30 pants. Will post if it looks good.
I also want a pair of Diesel jeans that fit well.0 -
My NSV goal is to fit into a long floor length, black velvet bridesmaid dress I work 16 years ago. It's a huge journey for that to happen but I love thinking that I can zip that sucker up again!0

Barrie - it's growing! I've never liked how they built up the downtown with all the bars and night clubs. I'm in the north end. The south end is growing so quickly, soon Mapleview won't be able to handle all the traffic!0

Well here are a few of the NSV's I want!
I want to run 1/2 marathon without walking this year!
I want to wear a size 6 or smaller
I want to make new friends with similar goals
I want to be more adventurous and go white water rafting and para-sailing0 -

I have so many!
I want to not have love handles
I want to have muscle definition in my whole body, including my abs ( but not a ton)
I want to run a mile without worrying that I'll have an asthma attack.0 -
Congrats and much success to everyone on their NSVs!
I recently passed the 20 pounds lost mark and decided that since I was shifting my workouts to include lots more strength training, I was going to no longer focus on the scale as my measure of success.
My NSV goal is to reach 18 - 20% body fat by the end of the year and be comfortably and confidently wear single digit sized clothes!
With the help of my great trainer, we do a skin fold test and take my measurements each month.
I am happy to report that after the first month, I am down 1% in body fat and down 2.75 inches!0 -

I want to have visible abs when I turn 50 (1.5 years from now).
I want to be below 10% body fat before the Jan 2014.0 -
Flat belly
No love handles
Be able to pass the army physical fitness test0 -
I want to be happy in my own skin, and get to a point where I feel I look good naked.0

#1 NSV goal - I kept a sexy little dress that I wore 1 time on our 25th anniversary trip. My goal is to wear it again next July when we go on our 45th anniversary trip. My husband LOVED that dress, and he doesn't know that I still have it. It would be the best surprise for me to wear it for him again and look good in it! This will take weight loss and TONING! I want this so bad!
Other NSV goals - reached:
not being so out of breath all the time
being able to keep up with the grandchildren
My feet, ankle and knees not in pain all the time
my current size 16 which were REALLY tight, are fitting comfortably now
NSV goals not yet reached:
To get off my blood pressure meds
Be able to lift weights again
Be able to run again
Feel comfortable in my own skin and not feel so self-conscience all the time
Not feel OLD anymore!
I'm sure there are many more, but these are what I can think of right now0
