Vitamin Question

I have been taking a womens daily multi vitamin every day for a few months now. Recently I have been hearing people talk about the hair, skin, and nails vitamins that make your nails grow long, hair grow faster, and help skin gain elasticity (which is good when you are trying to lose weight). My questions are:

1: Has anyone taken these vitamins? Have you seen an improvement in your hair, skin, and nails? Do they really work?

and

2: Does anyone know if I can take both the multi vitamin and the hair, skin, and nails vitamins together every day? Or maybe I just need to take them at different times of the days? Is it dangerous to take two different kind of vitamins every day?

Any advice would be very helpful! The last thing I want to do is harm my body so I want to make sure I'm making the smartest decisions with the supplements.

Thanks!

It's probably best to speak with a pharmacist or doctor to see what is ok to do. Vitamins have different amounts of everything and different combinations. Most hair, skin, nail vitamins are just Biotin I believe (biotin itself is much cheaper than the vitamins geared towards hair/skin/nails and you can get a generic one). Check the labels of your vitamins and the one for hair skin and nails to see if there is anything common in them. Bring both to the pharmacy counter in the store and ask the pharmacist. I don't think those vitamins help with skin elasticity much though. I haven't noticed a difference in my hair or nails while taking biotin. I only take it because my mother gave me a bottle because she bought the wrong one (she should of gotten another B vitamin instead of biotin). I find eating enough healthy fats and protein help a lot with hair, healthy fats and hydration for skin, and calcium, protein and healthy fats for nails.

Be careful about any pills you take, even vitamins and supplements. They can interact with other medicines and they may contain too much of a vitamin. Too much of a vitamin can harm you more than it will help you.
