Random, possibly very dumb question about calorie / fat / nutrient intake?

I had my gallbladder out a month ago and ever since my stomach has been rejecting a lot of the foods I usually eat, including a number of fruits and vegetables. If the foods pass right through, does that mean my body isn't absorbing the nutrients (and on the reverse side, isn't absorbing the fat or calories either?).

Sorry for the dumb question!

To an extent. However, you can't know to what extent. Your digestive system might be extracting 95% of the nutrients/calories or 10%. All you can know is that it's not over 100%.

Not a dumb question at all, I actually have no idea how that works though - I know there's members here who've also shared having their gallbladder removed, hopefully they'll see this thread and chime in!

Not a dumb question. If the food comes out looking a lot like how it went in (think of corn), then your not absorbing a lot, if it's coming out "normal"ish, then you are absorbing nutrients. I just have no clue as to how much, that's something you would need a specialist for.
