Fitbit stride

I posted this question in the fitness forum with no response so trying here.
If you are around 5'7" what do you have you Fitbit walking and running stride distances set at?
And do you find the total distance walked accurate?
I noticed a discrepancy between treadmill and Fitbit distance recorded and am trying to figure out which is correct and make sure my stride is set righty for accuracy.

I can't answer your question since I'm not your height, but Fitbit never calculates distance based on stride length correctly for me, even though it counts my steps somewhat accurately.
Saying that, your stride length ties in somewhat to your calorie burn. Fiddling with it will affect that. If you get good burns matching scale performance, I wouldn't mess with it.
If you have a newer Fitbit that has a GPS feature, you can go for an outdoor run with GPS, and it will automatically calculate a better stride length for you. Saying that, I've done this, and still get bad distance when it's not doing GPS counting. Go figure.
Again, if your burns are good, I wouldn't worry about it.0 -

Just measure your stride length and set it to that.0

I'm 5'8" and my walking atride length is 71cm. I'm on my phone, so can't do the inches conversion right now.1

Odds are that most people leave it as default, since they don't need better accuracy or it's good enough ballpark for them or they just don't care.
I have found that my Garmin watch has my default stride length estimated quite decently accurate, based on my height, weight and age.
As for running, my watch has GPS, so stride length doesn't matter at all for me there.
On a treadmill it's clear that it depends on speed for me. With speeds under 11 km/h watch overestimates a bit and with speed over 12 km/h it starts to underestimate a bit. But given distances involved in the end it doesn't really matter.
As far as walking distance accuracy goes, it matters if you have walked 20 km, and tracker tells you 15 or 25, but none of the trackers are so inaccurate. If you're walking 3.2 km, and tracker calculates 3.1 km, the difference doesn't matter at all.1
