Bikes for plus size?

Hey all, I'm looking to start biking and wondering what bikes are for plus size. The highest weight capacity i have seen is 250. I wasn't sure if anyone knew if they had bikes with weight limits of 300 or 350 and where to find them. Thanks!

I'm 240 and have never had a problem with any bike due to my weight. I've trashed some wheels though.

If you have a local bike shop in your area, they're a good place to start. Tell them your concern. A lot of bikes don't have weight limits.

(Cervelos have no rider weight limit, but they're pricy for a first bike.)

    I agree..call a bike shop.

Most bike shops will have bikes that start at $300 and then go up to however much you are willing to spend up to ridiculou$ly priced. Often times they have some used bikes for cheap.

Workman bicycles builds on for up to 400 lbs. Another option would be a good quality mountain bike which should be able to hold you as long as you keep the wheels on the ground.

Cervelos have no rider weight limit. They're pricy for a first bike. Lots of bikes don't have weight limits. It's the wheels that bear your weight, and the wheels are where you might have issues. Mountain bike wheels are the usual recommendation for heavier riders, and a 29 inch MTB wheel fits a 700c road bike.

Also, Enve wheels are strong enough for your car. But they're more expensive than the bike.

Get the 36 spoke wheels, especially on the back.

I have a Giant Sedona DX currently weigh over 300.... I absolutely love it and haven't had any problems with it. I paid a little over 500 for it.
