You can eat any foods you want provided you're in a calorie deficit. Focus on nutrient-dense whole foods primarily, but don't deprive yourself of a treat every so often. As for exercise, walking is the best place to start.

Eat foods that you like in portion sizes that fit your goals.

Get plenty of fats & protein for health and satiety.

Get plenty of fruits & veggies for the micronutrients.

Fill in the rest of your calories with carbs, sweets, and treats as you see fit.

Any exercise that you enjoy doing can be beneficial, though getting some form of resistance training in is probably a good idea (though not required, of course).

There are no foods that you must avoid, just like there are no foods that you must include in your diet. You may find as you progress that there are some foods you don't consider worth the calories, but that's going to be highly individual. Start logging for a few days and make changes as you go along until you find what works best for you.

I started with the same food I'd been eating before I started losing weight, just less of it.

I tend to go oatmeal or eggs for breakfast as these are foods that keep me going all day.
Lunch is generally some form of meat/fish & salad or something egg based. Some days ill have a salad sandwich.
Dinner is generally some form of meat & veges.

I find to stay in my calorie goal i need to only have one serving of carbs per day not including the oats.

I have started exercise fairly simply by walking 30-40 minutes 4 or 5 days a week.

This is working for me so far. If i want a treat one day i either up the walking or i wont have any carbs and keep my diet a bit more vege based.
