Hi everyone! I'm a mum to two children, 9 and 2 and at 5ft 3" weighing 257lbs, I'm obese! I know I need to lose fat and I know all about clean eating and working out (believe it or not, I used to be right into fitness and weighed a healthy 160lbs). My problem is that, as a now stay at home mum who has always worked, I am depressed and feel worthless. I love my children to death and am grateful I have been there through all of their milestones, but my mood is really effecting my ability to kick my own butt and get into a healthier life. My comfort is food and although I start my day off with good intentions (healthy breakfast and lunch) and I walk our dog everyday for at least 45 minutes, as soon as hubby is home, I just want to eat and vegetate.

Has anyone else been there and come through it? I hate the sight of myself but I know if I can get through this mental barrier, I will come out fighting! Sorry for the novel! Thanks you in advance!

First of all, you are not worthless! Being a mom is hard work and adjusting to staying at home has got to be rough. I hope that you're looking for support for your mental and emotional health as well, because there's a lot more to being healthy than the scale. As for that part, though, I think that maybe you're looking at this from an all-or-nothing perspective - I bet if you sat down, you could come up with a giant list of goals around eating healthier and getting fitter, and that probably seems like a lot of work and really overwhelming. But the thing is, you don't have to do it all at once! You've got lots of room to make small changes that will start making a big difference, and you can do it RIGHT NOW. It doesn't matter what you had for breakfast or what you'll have when hubby gets home. Just pick and goal and do it today. And then again tomorrow. And maybe you feel like *kitten* while you're doing it, but do it anyhow. I started off this year by making my bed every morning. It wasn't much, but it was one thing I could do, every day, that made my life feel just a little more pulled together. And at this point, it's a little crazy to think how many things have changed. It was a slow process, but you can build momentum if you just stop waiting for the perfect motivation to do everything, and start with something.
