I have quit drinking for awhile until I lose the 20lbs of beer and pizza in my gut. Can anyone recommend the best book for that. Did not really like the 6pack abs that I read a few years ago. Thanks in advance

The Unabridged Oxford English Dictionary in Hardcover: the twenty volume set. Don't read it (unless you really want to), just carry it around all day.

Just eat fewer calories (preferably in mostly nutritious food) than you use during the day, you'll lose fat.

Although I agree with all of the above comments, I also found "Smart People Don't Diet" very grounded and helpful, even if she doesn't recommend calorie counting.

Brain over Binge helped me with overeating, and it's cheap as hell. It does advocate calorie counting, exercise, and working with a doctor if you have health issues, making it one of the more reasonable books out there.

You aren't supposed to eat books.
