Want to gain weight by Christmas

So I have been skinny just about my whole life. Genetically high metabolism and I have tried many times to gain some real weight and this Christmas my whole family is getting together and I want to surprise everyone by gaining at least a good 25-30lbs. Maybe even 40 if possible. I'm eating about 3500-4000 calories a day and I started this challenge this week and so far I've been gaining a pound a day; however, I'm afraid of plateauing, just gaining water weight, or just straight fat. I want to get muscle and toned. Right now my start weight was 135lbs and I am 6'2" (yes, I'm skinny) what is you best constructive advice for getting me up to around 170 in time for Christmas or is it just not doable? Thank you for your input.

I don't think you'll like how you look if you get to that. It might be healthier to be higher weight, but at the rate you are going it's all fat. Do you follow a lifting program? My best constructive advice is to consider hiring a trainer and to see a doctor to ensure you're doing this in the healthiest way possible.

Holy Batman! You are eating a lot of food! I, too, fear that you will end up with a lot of unwanted body fat. But, you are "blessed" with an incredible metabolism. Or, are you?

So, you are essentially 142lbs now, right? That is seven pounds in seven days. That is not healthy. And, that is not sustainable. USMCMP is absolutely correct. It will indeed be all fat. Definitely not the what you want, from many different perspectives.

Before this week, what did your normal week-in, week-out meal plan look like? What were you consuming, calorie-wise, on a daily basis? On a weekly basis? What is the breakdown (proteins, carbs, fats)?

Are you doing any weight training? If so, what type of program?

How did you come up with the 3,500 - 4,000 calories daily?

We would love to help. It might not be a bad idea to hire a professional, as USMCMP suggested. But, I am sure that we can help. Your time frame might not be feasible. And, your goals (weight gain and ripped) are likely not feasible given the time frame.

I am severely underweight, and even though i got the green light from my doc to gain more than the average person, 7 pounds a week would still be alarming. Take it easy, make a plan with your medical team if you need it, and find a structured lifting regime to build muscle with the fat.

I got the same goal as you. Gain 25-35 pounds by Christmas. All I did was break it down 6-9 pounds a month for four months, roughly 1.5-2 pound a week. Best of luck to you.
