Water? (metabolism)

Does drinking water actually boost metabolism? I drink 3 liters of water a day, along with 1 cup of green tea at the end of my day. Also I eat each meal with 3 hrs in between each. I've been doing this for 3 months. Have I increased my metabolism?

    No,

Exercise can increase metabolism but food and food timing can't.

To increase your metabolic demand, you need to make more demands in your body - the easiest way is more physical activity.

3 litres a day from 10 to 38 C will take out 84 calories of heat from your body for what it's worth.

Water? No, but drinking hot coffee can increase your metabolism. The reason is that your body is forced to expend energy bringing your internal temperature back down to normal. It isn't a large change in metabolism but it is an increase.

I would recommend working out more to boost metabolism as others have said.

3 litres of water a day?

Maybe you've boosted your metabolism doing lots of exercise running to the toilet!

But the toilet would have to be far away, so, yeah, no, you haven't boosted your metabolism.

Just drink when you're thirsty. Water isn't a magic weight loss potion. You're on MFP. Use it properly.

Well actually water is super beneficial to the body, drinking when I'm only thirsty is bad advice, I'm not using it for weght loss. And as for weight loss I've already met my goal .. I was just wondering about the metabolism theory only.

Sorry for being indelicate, but as long as your pee is light yellow, you are drinking plenty of water. If it's clear, you may be drinking too much. I tend to always have a beverage next to me, but I only focus on drinking when I'm thirsty. And no sorry, it doesn't do anything measurable for your metabolism. As others have said, the only thing that really does is exercise.
