I used to workout an hour a day, at least. I used to eat whole foods. I used to run marathons. My best weight was 155 and I rocked it. Then came nursing school, marriage and two kids. 8 years later I'm at my full term pregnancy weight and my kids are 5 and 3. I eat everything in site struggle to workout. I decided I'm starting low carb today... not Keto, it messes with my heart but low carb. WISH ME LUCK!

It's going to be ok! One day at a time! You can do it! Log all your foods, stick to your plan, it's actually liberating! Eating everything in sight is slavery, not freedom.

Nesting syndrome. Hold off big changes until the latest is three months old. Those three months will fly by.

Good luck! Weigh everything and log in MFP before eating - it works!

Good luck! I totally understand your situation. I am male, but did the same thing when I was married and the boys were born. Went from athletic and fit to 251lbs. Had trouble walking around the yard. Lived that way for a few years until the boys were roughly your kid's ages. My boys are 18 months apart. Now, through a lot of changes I am well on my way.

Biggest thing - for me - was a life-style change. I will not preach to anyone about anything but I will share my experiences. I will gladly share things that worked for me. Everyone is different so what works for me might not work for you.

But, I have a lot of experience with nutrition and training and the concepts that apply. I like to k.i.s.s. - keep it simple, silly! We are not - I am making an assumption here - highly-trained athletes so we are not chasing that extra, last 1%.

I enjoy flexible dieting. My fuel, er, um, I mean, food is like money and I do have a budget. So, if I can "afford" it I can eat it. I have used several tools to track caloric intake and macros....not really important as to which one you use, just strongly suggest using one. And, heck - where are we? In the myfitnesspal forum. Consider using their tracking tools.

I enjoy intermittent fasting. It works for me. I eat several smaller meals each day. I am actually looking to change things up a little bit. Likely going to four larger meals. We will see how that works.

I enjoy weight training. A LOT! I work out pretty much every day (with some breaks) and follow different schedules. Meaning, I swap things up every four to six weeks. Even if I am doing the same exercises, I will use a different grip and a different starting point. It hits the muscles differently. Which is a good thing. I try to keep following the same program. That is key. I just modify schedules.

Find something that works for you. Adherence is huge. Mindset is bigger. For me. For me, if I am doing something for the right reasons then I am gonna kill it! If I am doing something for the wrong reason then I am pretty sure that success is going to always dart away.

So, monitor and track things. Be dilligent with that (easy for me to say....I love tedious and monotonous tasks).

    Best of luck to you.

I'm no longer pregnant. Was just saying I'm at my pregnancy weight but my kids are grown!

That's a great way to think about it

You are welcome. If I might suggest, have a plan when you go to the gym. Or, where ever you might be doing the strength training. Super important.

And, if you start the weight training, you will need to increase your caloric intake. More energy out, right? So, more energy in!
