Why do people where an HRM during weight training workouts?

Currious to know why people do this.

I'm constantly questioning the accuracy of the HRM during any kind of cardio activity. I've got to think it’s far less accurate during weight training.

From what i understand, whatever formula calculates the calories burned is assuming you’re in a constant state of exertion... which from what i see of how most people lift is not at all the case (not that there is anything necessarily wrong with resting a lot between sets).

I mean I guess empirical data is good for comparisons sake from workout to workout… even if the number itself is not terrible accurate.

Those of you doing circuit training, or some other form of lifting that is high intensity and little rest, then i suppose it’s probably a lot more accurate for you.

Just kind of bored and wondering what kind of responses I’ll get. lol
