Spending more time on the Floor!

So, I recently switched to spending more time on the floor. I sprained my back a couple of years ago and started doing reformer pilates after getting cleared from PT. As I've been losing weight, with less "fat" to support myself, I've found sleeping on a soft mattress and sitting in an office chair to be the source of much recurring back pain and hip flexor tension. I recently switched to sleeping on a Japanese shikibuton on the floor and sitting on the floor with a "tray" desk sort of thing. Since then I've started to get more release in my hip flexors, my breathing + posture has improved, and I have significantly less back pain. I've also discovered I can easily get up and sit down without having to use my hands to stabilize myself.. I can literally just squat up and down from the floor!!!

Here's my current configuration:

Folding Floor Chair (Merax), Cosmic Cushion Buckwheat Zifu (Sun and Moon Originals), Zabuton (Gaiam), Microbead bolster (wraps around feet and fits behind knees to relieve knee injury) plus a small throw pillow for additional lumbar support.

Here's the Shikibuton:

Foam pad + Futon (magshion), not pictured: bedding + buckwheat pillow (Beans72)

I've also discovered buckwheat and it rocks my world!!

One recent perk of Floor Living I've experienced, I went to an outdoor concert recently and just brought a towel and a buckwheat travel pillow. I was able to sit comfortably through the the whole concert!!

Anyone else into Floor Living? How has it benefited you? Would love to hear your stories! Also, feel free to share pictures of your Floor setup!
