Does this supplement work and has anyone here tried it? Having awful sugar cravings. Debating to do the sugar and flour detox but curious about these supplements

Does L-Glutamine work for what?
For sugar addiction? No, because sugar addiction isn't a thing. You just like sweet tasty foods.13 -

I've never heard of LGlutamine for sugar cravings.
It's normally chromium.
If you over eat sugary foods then not buying them or having them in the house is a great way to reduce the amount you eat.4 -
I did a google search and found it was being promoted on the Goop website and some paleo sites.
I can't vouch for this site (since I'm not familiar with it) but it had an interesting article that was somewhat well-annotated (and they had NOT found studies or medical journal articles to support effectiveness on sugar cravings):

If you see it in Facebook or as a YouTube link, it's not real. Just scammers trying to sell you stuff.
A pill from a link is never the cure.4 -

If Goop likes it, run far, far away.5 -

Rather than looking for a quick fix to your sugar cravings - maybe spend some time considering them more thoroughly. What specifically are you craving? Not sugar itself I assume, I doubt you are getting out the bag of Domino table sugar and a spoon, but maybe a particular food? Cookies? Ice cream? Candy? If you do indulge in those foods, are you able to do it in moderation? Are you trying to specifically limit sugar for a medical reason? Or because you have difficulty controlling your intake of certain foods?
When you have the cravings, is it related to situational/emotional - stress, boredom, or anxiety? Is engaging in an activity - going for a walk, doing something with your hands, etc enough to change your behavior? Do you have the cravings when you're at home and not elsewhere, or vice verse?
I don't know what the flour and sugar detox is but there isn't any reason to "detox" as these substances aren't toxic, nor are they addictive. If you are looking to limit them in your diet because they don't help you achieve your goals, focus on what you want to ADD to your diet in order to prioritize the foods that do help you reach your goals, and then determine if you are able to still leave some room for the foods you truly enjoy in moderation. Some people find better success with abstaining from trigger foods, temporarily or permanently, but I'm a big fan of moderation.8 -
A sweet tooth is a learned behavior (just like a taste for salt). You need to unlearn it and change your palate. There are 2 ways to do it: 1) Cut down. Only have one dessert a day instead of two. Eat less fruit and more vegetables. Drink your coffee black or with plain cream or half and half instead of flavored sweet creamers. 2) Go cold turkey for a while. Eat no sweet things for several weeks, and gradually add back small amounts as the palate changes.
Just know it is not an addiction, it is that you really enjoy sweet things and your palate is used to eating them.5 -
https://examine.com/supplements/glutamine/A conditionally essential amino acid which only appears to benefit the body as supplementation when otherwise deficient (vegans, vegetarians with low dairy intake) or during prolonged endurance exercise. Anecdotally reported to reduce sugar cravings.
It's not mentioned anywhere else on the page so it doesn't seem like any studies have really been done in regards to sugar cravings. But it could work, who knows.1 -

The placebo effect is a powerful and mysterious thing.3 -
I've never heard of using it for reducing sugar cravings. As a BB it has benefits...
Protein synthesis - preventing your muscles from being catabolized during a cut. Helps to maintain cell volume and hydration, speeds up wound and burn healing and recovery, replenishes declining glutamine levels during intense workouts, can help produce growth hormone levels, can boost immune system, can help intestines.. I use it daily and I also eat sweets daily

I have tried this, but didn't notice any real difference. The only thing that really keeps my sugar cravings under control is protein, protein, protein (.8g/# of body weight). Keeps me full and I rarely crave sugar if I stick to that.1
