I recently bought a food scale to more accurately track the amount of meat. etc. I am eating. Just out of curiosity I weighed the salmon I was making for dinner before it was cooked and again after it was cooked. The food scale came out with two different weights. The salmon weighed less after it was cooked.
So my question.....do you log the amount of salmon (for example) before or after its cooked?

Most all foods weight less after cooking as the food loses fat, water, moisture as it cooks. As for which weight to use, it depends on the entry you select for your diary as some are based on precooked/raw weight and some are based on cooked weight.0
