    Apparently it started as barefaced lie, which then became baldfaced, but people now say bald more often than barefaced. Bold faced is now used too because it means the same thing as barefaced used to back in the day (brazen, bold...apparently shaving was weird) Barefaced turned into baldfaced, like we'd say bald head probably before bare head, I guess? That's my gist of the situation
