I've had great luck on losing weight over time but recently its came to a hault. Thinking of starting a ketosis plan but having a hard time with 75% fats 20% protein and 5% carbs. Read tons of articals and just wondering if anyone has had good luck with this?

So its a long term session? If I do it for 30 days to test and go back to original plans I will gain?0

Initially on a ketogenic diet, you drop a lot of water weight because glycogen storage reduces. And the whole "forcing the body to burn fat" is so overstated because the body is ALWAYS burning fat. If people aren't burning enough stored body fat, it's usually because their deficit may not be enough.

When you go keto, you dump a lot of water weight as you deplete glycogen stores. Also, every gram of carbohydrate is going to store about 2.7 grams of water...so you cut the carbs and you drop a lot of water and glycogen which is why low carbers lose weight so quickly in the beginning.
When you go back to eating carbs, you are going to store more water and replenish glycogen...thus the weight goes up on the scale.
It doesn't have anything to do with fat. A keto plan works on the same principle as any other plan...energy deficit.2 -

If you have trouble staying on the macros needed for keto, don't go keto. There's no reason to do it if it's not enjoyable for you, it doesn't work any better than any other way of restricting your calories.4

This^! Keto has no demonstrable metabolic advantage. Might be useful for the insulin resistant but I guessing that's not your case as you were losing before without keto.3 -

Also I never have thought of this but in total fat count as it shows and the fat counts that show up as negative in red saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats do you have to subtract the from total fat! Always thought they were counted I. The total fat count. Do you have any idea on this?0

Apparently it's a glitch in the matrix app. I just ignore those.1 -

There are no standards for SFA/MUFA/PUFA, so if you track those, it will always be red.
Also, do you use a food scale? Have you readjusted calories since you lost the 45 lbs? How many calories are you eating?0 -
hello
i am currently on a keto diet have been for the passed 8 months.
When we eat carbs our body turns it into glucose which gives us energy.
when we stop eating carbs our body needs fats, so it starts to break down the fats on our body to release ketones that then give us energy.
Being on a keto diet requires will power. carbs must be kept below 50g or 30g (not including veg)
It takes around 8 to 14 days to get into ketosis and you may suffer the keto flu. this can be stopped if you keep on top of your electrolytes I.E sodium potassium magnesium
You can not give in to carbs at all because if you do you will come out of ketosis and run the risk of the keto flu again and its just not worth it.
I have managed for 8 months and its the best thing i have done. I have dropped from 14st to 13st 26% body fat to 17%
you need to workout you keto macros ( google search keto calculator )
if you suffer from diabetes type 1 then you can not use the diet i don't think as your body does not produce insulin and you could die from this diet as your blood will become toxic.
here is an example of my macros 200 protein 150 fat 50 carbs
i workout 4 times a week.
check my diary of foods i eat .
but mainly for the passed 8 months i have an omelette a day 3 eggs. salad or veg.
nuts are a must. stock up on them they are good.
avocados. great. eat one or 2 a day.
scan everything into this app it will tell you your daily intake.
hope this helps. and good luck.
ps cant eat fruit!0 -

Keto really should be a long-term commitment, because you'll lose water weight before losing fat, so unless you're on it long-term, the weight loss will be temporary. It still goes along with CICO - if you're doing well with basic calorie counting and have just hit a plateau, keto for a month is pretty much pointless. It's really more of a lifestyle than a viable short-term fix.0
