yeah, kinda both.2

I train to have the biggest bench I can possibly have. I happen to like the aesthetics that come with it. All my health markers are pretty good as well.0

for fun. so 'neither exactly', i guess.1
-
Third option, for fun. If it's not fun I won't keep at it. Aesthetic is a nice bonus if it happens. Health improvement is inevitable.1

I'd say, as a 52 year old menopausal woman: for me it's shifted over the years. From fun and aesthetics to HEALTH, habit/comfort and aesthetics.0

I do way more than is necessary for health, and it hasn't really made that much difference in my looks. For me, the answer would be Other.
I like to be challenged. I find long races, very challenging. I like having a goal to work towards, like running Boston. In order to achieve that goal, I have to work hard. Along the way, I get the good feeling that comes from moving my body, being outdoors, and exploring the world around me. I find it fun and satisfying and occasionally I even get a bit of a runners high. Bonus is that I get to eat whatever I want.0 -
I love to lift. It has been the best medicine for my degenerative back disease. I think health and strength are the most important.3

Between those two choices.... aesthetic. But also for the challenge of meeting a goal and striving for a new one.0
-
Aesthetics is just a byproduct of doing what I enjoy but also require to slow down my health problems.

Aesthetics for me right now.1

aesthetics for me too.0

As a dude that was formerly morbidly obese who is now at a 32 inch waist, what friggin aesthetic? My loose skin is not exactly what most would call attractive. lol. Yes, I can laugh about it now because it just sorta is what it is. To people that are none the wiser, I look fit and athletic with clothes on and compression garments on under them, but I won't be rocking my bod at the beach anytime soon. That said, I feel terrific, just a warrior with battle scars is all.5

Fitness/health. Looks don't keep you alive!0

Both.

I exercise (train) in order to be able to do the events I want to do (long distance cycling).
I don't go out of my way to eat whatever "healthy food" is ... I eat the food I like.
Aesthetic refers to the way things look ... beauty. Believe me, I don't look beautiful in the middle of one of my long distance bicycle rides, but I don't care. I am not there to look good. I'm there to complete the ride.
As for health, it is questionable whether the distances I cycle are healthy. Again, I don't care. I like cycling long distances ... so I do.
And that's why I exercise ... I exercise so that I can exercise more. A lot more.0 -
I train for health & performance. Aesthetics just happens in the process.2

i agree with you Rybo0

I train so I don't kill people. Honestly, its my stress release, so maybe that is health related. I also train partly for looks and partly to challenge myself and achieve what I didn't think I could.1

I train for pain management. I guess that falls under health.0

There is that too!
I spend all day long sitting in front of a computer. It is great to get outside and go ride for several hours, breathing fresh air and looking at scenery ... away from the computers.

I train to improve my agility and strength. The way I train shapes the way I look, rather than the other away around.
I do a lot of aerial and handstand training which in turn means that I have massive shoulders. I think they look hot but they do make finding dresses and tops that fit a nightmare. Either too tight at the top or like a kaftan around the waist. It was never my intention to create this look, it just happened along the way.1 -
I stated for both and quickly increase the amount of training (BJJ/MMA) for competition goals, which led to the side benefit of health and asthetic. Recently dropping down 15lbs to another weight class for BJJ competitions led me to being the best aesthetically I have ever looked, but that was a side benefit.0

Health at the moment, but I ain't mad at the aesthetic changes either0
-
Both. I enjoy fitness and working out a lot. But I also enjoy being able to wear a cute bikini comfortably.1
