Venting with a Purpose

I don't expect weight loss to come easily or quickly, so I needed to vent to people who understand what I'm dealing with, as most of the people around me do not care about fitness at all.

I work out 6 days/week (7hrs/week) and meticulously food log (with weights, etc.). I also meet 3xs/week with a trainer and nutritionist.

I had amazing weight loss at the start - 10lbs right off the bat - and now nothing.

For four months.

I'm getting super discouraged, but if I'm barely maintaining while I'm working this hard, I'm scared that I'll just put it all back on if I stop.

I have a doctor's appointment scheduled for later this week - I've been advised to get my hormone levels tested.

But mostly I'm just incredibly frustrated and just want my hard work to actually pay off!

Thank you, all you lovely people, for listening! I hope your weight loss journey is going much better than mine is!

    Hi

You have a good routine with the exercise and food logging. Keep going. Do not be discouraged, because you have a routine that is maintaining your weight and the exercise must be increasing or at least maintaining your fitness and strength. You have a support team (doctor/trainer/nutritionist) which is great. But at the end of the day, it is your body and your health, and you are responsible for it. Even if you are generally surrounded by a bunch of people who are not interested in health and fitness.
Take a copy of your food and exercise diary to the medical appointment or send it in advance of the appointment. Don't change any of your eating or exercise routine until you have the results and medical advice.
The primary way to lose (or maintain or gain) weight is through your food, not exercise. You are currently eating the right amount to maintain your current weight at the current level of exercise. You would need to eat less cal/kj to lose weight.
But do not be discouraged and do not give yourself a hard time. You are just part of the way along the journey. If a setback or detour happens (and really this is a minor one) just pick yourself back up again, change anything that needs to be changed, and steadily keep going.

You don't mention how many calories you are consuming each day or how you are measuring your food.

Yoyoghurt hit it one the head with there comment. Keep at it, get the tests done and move from there you are making the right changes to make a healthier you and remember you could also be gaining muscle as your losing fat so look for non scale changes.

Keep your chin up! It's disheartening when this happens but hopefully by going to the doctors and doing some tests it might shed some light on what is happening with your body. I was in the same boat, and found out that I have Hashimoto's which prevents me from losing weight easily... it is a struggle, and I have gained a fair amount of weight in the process, but I've started back in logging what I am eating and moving forward in diet and lifestyle. I am now on a gluten free, dairy free and soy free diet to combat the side affects of Hashimoto's, and through extensive research have found that a low cardio high weight lifting workout is best for my situation. You will get there, just keep persevering!
