My day one is over. I decided to do this because I need to lose weight and be healthier not only for my family but for myself as well. I want to feel good about myself when I go into the store and not self-conscious about looking at the sizes. I want to feel good about myself. I know I already said that but that's mostly what it is. I want to feel pretty, I guess. My father always told me that I had a pretty face. If I could just lose about 50 pounds, then I would be gorgeous just like my sister. I have always been bigger and now I'm just fat. Mostly from a lot of eating because I like to eat not because of some emotional thing. I know that there are people that do have that and I feel sorry for them but I don't have it. I just like food. But I want to do it. Along with my children and my husband and my sister( who walked with me today for about 20 minutes), I know that we can do it lose weight together and be healthier. I know that both my husband and I aren't really that motivated. And since my husband and I work different shifts, I could use the motivation hopefully from this myfitnesspal community. If anyone lives near me in Columbus Indiana and wants to work out let me know.

It's great that you have decided to get healthier for your family and for yourself.

Sustainability is the key to to weight loss, so choose a goal that is right for you (try not to compare yourself to your sister) and make changes you can stick to for the rest of your life, not just for a few weeks and be prepared for the long haul, you're probably looking at 6 months - a year to shift 50lbs in a safe, healthy manner.

I love food too! I'm on day 7 and so far what's keeping me motivated is pictures of clothes I want to wear when I'm skinny.

I think you are incredibly brave to be so honest - not just with yourself, but with strangers - on Day One. You can do it girl... I'm in the UK, but happy to buddy up and support each other.
Loving food is tough! I'm on Day 3 and trying to find positives each day in the things that i do, eat etc... I'm with the post above (sorry, don't know how to link) and keep looking at a pic of me 5 years ago that I really like...

Good luck today! We can do this x

Motivation comes from within. MFP community are wonderful in offering support, but cannot offer you the drive, determination and discipline required to achieve your goals.
You are the only one who can do that!

This is a lifetime commitment. A day by day journey, where small changes over a long period of time will reap big rewards.

You have made the first step. Congratulations.
Now, like the rest of us, you just put one foot in front of the other and no matter what, you just keep going.
