Hi all, I started yesterday increasing my protein and lowering my carbs in my diet but I'm struggling to come up with nice meals to prepare. Basically eggs and chicken the last two days. Can't do this long term. Any ideas?.....

Steaks, bunless burgers, tuna, pork chops, swordfish steaks, shrimp, bacon, sausage, beef loin, taco bowls, stir fry meat with veggies, whey isolate shakes, and you can do some research online and find lower carb veggies to pair with your meats.

How high/how low? What are you currently eating.

I find lowering carbs and increasing protein to be reasonably easy and to allow for variety, but I might be using different numbers than you are.

Generally, I'd focus on basing a meal around a source of protein and non starchy vegetables, but that allows for lots of variety.

No need to just eat chicken -- no meats are going to contribute carbs, and many are high protein for the calories, including fish and other seafood, turkey, lean cuts of pork (pork chops, tenderloin), many cuts of beef and lamb, for example. For non meat, soybean based foods aren't particularly high carb, if you eat them, and dairy, especially greek yogurt and cottage cheese, can be a good source, more so than eggs (although I love eggs, they are just more high fat than high protein, although they have both).

Protein foods is meat, fish, egg, beans, grains, nuts, dairy. Balanced macros = nice meals. Nice meals = want to continue. Are your macros balanced? If not, why not? Need numbers.

frozen turkey burger patties are pretty good and protein dense, also super convenient. 240 calories, 31g protein, 11g fat

My current favourite is ostrich steaks!
Super lean and almost pure protein. Plus, yummy.

Also fish, prawns etc as well as more normal meat. And chicken thighs beat breasts every time - so much tastier.

spinach and broccoli are also excellent sources of protein for few calories. Don't forget to consider the protein content of your veggies when you're choosing sides.

Choose 1 protein source and pair it with a carbohydrate that also has protein. Then you are double dipping for protein but still have a balanced meal. Things like beans ( all types), edamame, quinoa, black bean pasta, oatmeal, milk and yogurt all have a decent amount of protein while still having carbohydrates.
