Anyone use the happy scale app? What are your thoughts? Is it effective?

I haven't Happy Scale but I do use Libra which is effectively the same thing but on Android, it's great for helping see past water fluctuations if you're a daily weigher and it also gives you a good idea about how accurate your logging is as it tells you based on your trend weight what your approximate deficit is, you can then compare that to MFP.

Yeah I didn't know any of that lol. I thought you just logged weight and it tells you when you'll reach your goal. I wonder how I figure out the water weight thing.

Keep entering data every day it will start showing trend line and trend loss or gain.

it just gives you a trend, with most water weight, it's a normal daily fluctuation, so the more data you give it (i.e. daily instead of weekly) the better it can figure out the average weight over the week.

I use it and like it quite a lot. I really like being able to see the reports and graphs. The milestones are terrific for someone like me with a lot of weight to lose; you can break it down into manageable chunks and know that your next scale victory is never very far away.

When I was on WW, the once-a-week weigh-in could build up all kinds of drama for me -- had I lost weight? gained it? what if the WW receptionist announced my results in front of everyone? I could work myself up into quite a tizz about it. Weighing daily has helped make it an everyday thing and not an Event. Now when I have a few days in a row of seesawing over a couple of pounds even though my calories/macros have been right, I've stopped taking it personally.

I've heard people mention it on here but I don't understand what the point of it is?

Gives you day-to-day data; useful to see if it's time to recheck my calories and macros. On the other hand, it can also take the angst out of not losing a set amount every week. When I see that my weight fluctuates day to day and I know my calories/macros really are the way they should be, I worry less.

You can get a fairly realistic date for hitting your goal weight as opposed to MFP's 5 week calculation based only on what you ate today and you can see how accurate your logging is.

I love it. I weigh in weekly for my "official weight" but I like to see the fluctuations each week. Tells me how I'm doing and if I need to make some changes.

I have been using it for several years. I like it a lot. My weight fluctuates by 5-8 lbs over the course of the month due to water weight, so it helps give me a better perspective on if I am losing, gaining or maintaining.

I like it a lot.... it smooths out daily fluctuations so you can see if you are truly gaining/losing/maintaining over time.

I'm very glad I started using Happy Scale. When you put in your weight for the day, it gives you the visual of your general downward weight loss trend. The graph smooths out the spikes in gains and losses, and it helps keep me from freaking out when I see a gain for a couple days in a row. Basically, it confirms for me that I'm slowly reaching my goal. Give it a try!

Yes I use it and I love it! It helps me not get discouraged when the scale goes up because i can see that the overall trend is still downward. Likewise, I can see when I am stalling out and need to tighten up my logging.

In addition to the chart, the app also averages out your rate of loss (per week) and estimates when you'll hit your goal weight. And it is much more accurate than MFP's "in 5 weeks" nonsense.

I tried it and must say I don't have that much enthusiasm for it. Maybe because I'm 2 lbs from goal and have plateaued here for a bit, the trend line on happy scale is flat... not very happy! I can see how the app would be good for people who have more to lose -- it will help you to set mini goals and not be discouraged by a slight blip on the scale but as you get closer to goal and the trend line flattens, I think it has less utility.

Here's why I use libra: I weigh every day amdbof course there's fluctuations and days that I don't lose even though i think I should. Libra helps show that whatever my weight is, it's usually right on trend with where I should be and I don't have to worry about the odd fluctuations.
