swollen knee, but not much pain?

Hi everyone. I've been doing couch to 5k and am in week 5. This past Saturday, I felt really great and ran for 30 min and covered 3 miles, so much mre running than I was "supposed" to do. Well today I woke up with my knee feeling weird. By midday I knew that it was swollen...but I don't really have much pain. It's an annoying feeling and hurts a little, but not painful enough to eve take Advil.
I'm wondering what this could be, and if I would be "safe" to do the elliptical or bike while the swelling goes down. I am resting today.
Thanks so much!

Only a doctor can tell you whether it's safe to resume exercise. Even if there's no pain, you may want to take an antiinflammatory and put some ice on it.0
