Using a recipe as an ingredient?

Is it possible in MFP to select another of your recipes as an ingredient when creating a new recipe? E.g. I have a homemade sausage recipe entered, and I'd like to use it to create a recipe for scotch eggs.

Not as far as I can tell. You can get the stats from your recipe and create a food in "my foods" though.

There is currently no direct way that I know about, but there are some workarounds.

The first workaround is taking the nutrition information for one serving of the existing Recipe and creating a private My Foods item. I strongly suggest putting your MFP username in the name of it so that you can search for it easier when using it for the new Recipe. Create the new Recipe and search for the name of the saved My Foods item and enter the desired number of servings of the saved My Foods item in the other Recipe. This method used to work only on the mobile app, but it now may work on the web version also.

I do not use the Recipe Tool on the mobile app, but I believe any personal My Foods that you have created and are part of the subset of My Foods items stored on your mobile device can be used. If you have a lot of personal My Foods items, some of them might not be stored on the limited memory of the mobile device and may not necessarily be available to add to a Recipe on the mobile app. If that happens, log the My Foods item to your Diary so that it becomes stored on your mobile app.

The second workaround is to create a draft Recipe as a My Meal in a meal slot in the Food Diary, save the My Meal, then import the saved My Meal to the new Recipe. I think you can now search for My Meals using the web version Recipe Tool, but I am not sure. I like using the Old Recipe Calculator, which is available only on the web version, for this better than using the newer Recipe Tool. My workaround instructions are at this link...
