Who else wears their heart on their sleeve?

Hello. I have not been in here as much as I originally planned to be and it shows in my mood. I was starting to feel that all alone attitude again and since I know that's not the case... here I am. Several weeks have gone past since I stopped the ssri I had taken for several years and replaced it with non adductive natural medicine (herbs). For the most part, all is well however I have noticed that my feelings are much more readily available. This is good and bad. When I feel good its great! Unfortunatly when something doesnt go my way I cant seem but to take it personally (hence my heart on my sleeve) and being a nurse this could cause some very stressful situations for me. It also triggers stress eating. Not good for weight loss. Any suggestions out there?

Have you done any talk therapy or CBT? There's nothing wrong with being sensitive, that's a great trait for a nurse. :)

I know when I've removed prescriptions it often takes months for my brain and nervous system to get back to normal and in the interim there can be some rocky times. I hope that is the case for you, too.

Exercise and a healthy diet are the best medicine I've found for stable moods. You'll figure it out!

Thank you for your response. Writing it out on here is therapy for me right now. Opening up is a challenge for me but I find it therapeutic. What is CBT? One of my goals of course is weightloss but my over all goal is to be healthy.

I have an anxiety condition and dieting can be extra hard because you're taking away a stress coping mechanism. Replacing eating with physical activity often does the trick to shake me out of a sense of urgency to eat what I shouldn't. It makes me feel in control of my body and serves as a distracrion with a calorie burning boost. Spinning straw into gold ; ) Drinking ice water, hot tea, and having a low calorie snack option (my go to is popcorn or fresh veggies) can sometimes trick my brain into believing I'm fulfilling my desire to fill up under stress minus the consequence of blowing all my hard work. Hopefully these work for you too!
