Starting over... Kinda

I haven't been on here in months and when I was I was doing really well I had lost a good chunk of my goal weight but a lot of stuff was going on and I got lazy and stopped logging. I have been eating a lot lately, a lot of emotional eating so I have been avoiding the scale at all costs out of fear of making myself feel worse about slacking off. I have felt like crap for awhile, not drinking enough water and just feeling bad about getting lazy and I just feel run down.
The other day I had to go to the doctor and I was sure I had gained like 15lbs. When I stepped on the scale my face lit up because I had only gained 4.4lbs... so I thought. I signed on today for the first time in a long time and it asked to update my current weight and goal. I actually stepped on my scale and to my surprise I had actually lost 5lbs since my last login!
I don't know how, and I won't argue with it but I need motivation to start logging again. I was doing so well using this app logging and being accountable for the foods I was eating and the exercise I was doing. I changed my goal weight to 15 lbs less than what I had originally so now I have 40lbs to lose!

Need motivation! I know I can do it again but it's just finding the momentum I had, again!

Question. Why did you lower your goal weight?
I understand the concept of deciding an original goal isn't enough. I've done that. But it was when I was there or very close AND I was losing.

If you can't get motivated, how does it help to take a surprise, dare I say gift, 5 lb loss and then move your goal 15 lbs? if I'm doing the math right, you started the day 5 lbs closer and ended it 10lb further away. Or is it 15? No matter.

Do you want to track? I'm a goal and don't track, but I weigh in every day. If you can lose without it, why do it? I get that you can't just wander around in the dark, but if it's not broke...

Maybe you just need to monitor your weight.

I lowered it because it is my goal weight, I will be happy either way. I do want to log every day because it really helped me stay focused and enabled me to keep track of what I am putting in my body, it is a reminder of eating better and working towards a healthier life. It's just finding that drive again. I've been trying to. I was walking 5 miles a day and now I'm barely walking a mile.

Have you started? If you're reading this you're on the site. Why don't you log your last meal?

If you really can't get going try this: piece of paper line down the middle, why you want to track on left side, why not on right. May take some thinking. On some level you have real reasons for not wanting to do it.

When you are able to identify your objections, try to make some compromises with yourself to get going. And don't try to just plow your way past your own objections. You can't beat yourself into submission.
